Clerical script (隷書) evolved from seal script (篆書), starting from ca. 5th century B.C.E.
There are two major types of clerical script: ancient clerical script (古隷) and mature clerical script (八分隷).
Clerical scrip is the second major script of Chinese calligraphy that evolved.
Please see the history of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy menu for more detailed information.
