In this video tutorial I will show you how you can make someone appear slightly younger and radiant. Simply by reducing the depth of wrinkles and removing or reducing certain skin imperfections, or smoothing shadows, you can seriously improve the quality of your final edits of your portrait photography. The aim of this tutorial is to make someone appear younger but not artificial and plastic. I am using frequency separation technique, which is a very popular for skin retouching, but I use if for much more than that, including architecture photos. The great thing about it is that whenever you edit texture you do not destroy the tones, and vice versa. You can use this method for much skin retouching, dodging and burning, selective sharpening, and more. Hire a photographer in Tokyo The right and the only way to mastering the art of Chinese calligraphy is practice. But the way one practices is essential, and to be able to truly comprehend the secrets of this ancient art, one has to spend a lifetime on studying the classics. Copying old masterpieces has been taught since the beginning of Chinese calligraphy, and goes at least 3500 years back, to the times of Zhen Ren, the holy diviners, high priests of the Shang society. There are no shortcuts in the studies of Chinese calligraphy, and there is no easy way to master it. Here is my copy of a short fragment of a classic by Chu Suliang of the Tan dynasty, who is one of my most favorite ancient calligraphers. I wrote it a few minutes ago at the end of my studies, as I had a bit of ink left. Enjoy! 臨風亭而 - overlooking the Wind Pavilion.
I think of boudoir and nude photography the same way as Chinese calligraphy art. To be truly beautiful and hauntingly sensual, it should be untold, intimate and magical. There should be a lot of room for the imagination to move, and the viewer should be tipped, but never informed. It should be abstract and subtle, yet at the same time powerful and well balanced. The light is the key here, the negative space should define the shape, and not the other way around. Just like when you look at Chinese calligraphy art, you should look at the white space around the characters, and seek balance and energy there. It is the shadows that sell the magic, not the highlights. Text in Chinese: 女軆為秘堂 - woman's body is a temple of secrets. Hire a photographer in Tokyo I am sitting in my art studio in Tokyo in front of a computer screen, performing final corrections and editorial touches to the text of of my upcoming book - "The etymology of Japanese kanji - in-depth analysis of selected characters". Once I am done, the book will be sent off to my Japanese and Chinese language editor here in Tokyo, and I estimate it should be out there for purchase in November. The book discusses 50 Japanese kanji, in historical context. It is rich in illustrations, and contains well over 400 ink rubbings of characters, found in ancient Chinese and Japanese calligraphy masterpieces. Each of those illustrations has a very detailed description, including the name of the classic, name of the calligrapher, era, and some interesting trivia or details about it. The book itself is packed with names in Chinese or Japanese, and all of those are explained and have readings in Roman letters. I also added useful Japanese phrases for each of the discussed characters, so you will have 250 Japanese words to learn as well. In addition, I wrote a short chapter on the history of Chinese characters, Chinese calligraphy scripts, and explained the issue of classification of Chinese characters, which should assist in a better understanding of the subject. The book is aimed at all and any readers, but it will be appreciated by language students, historians, linguists, calligraphers, and enthusiasts of the Chinese writing system. As a Japanese calligrapher and Chinese calligraphy scholar, I put a great stress on the historical evolution of characters. This book is not only a travel in time, but also a story of art, occult, beliefs and politics of ancient China and Japan, and their influence over what we know today as Chinese characters or Japanese kanji.
Here is another shot from this week's body art photo shoot with a Japanese mode Asuka. For this shot I placed the lights in a way so they will create diagonal highlights and shadows, that will follow the body curves. I absolutely love working with deep shadows and spot highlights. They just create an amazing drama and mood. The calligraphy art is a fragment of a Tang dynasty classic in cursive script, which makes the image even more magical and special. It is a very poetic fragment about beauty of Chinese calligraphy, its power and profound energy. Hire a photographer in Tokyo I love visual arts, and being a multi genre artist makes it even more fun, as I can blend various types of art together, to create something unique and unexpected. Here is a photo that I took today during private photography workshops. I was giving some tips on exploiting various metering modes in the camera, and when I saw this sunset over Tokyo Harbor came up with an idea of de-focusing completely and snapping a blurry photo. I knew that I will add a one of my Japanese calligraphy works to it, and I exactly knew how will I post process the photo in photoshop. I actually saw this complete image before I pressed the shutter. This is one of great examples, how important is to know which direction you will go with your photo in editing, so then you know how you need to take it when you are out there shooting. Hire a photographer in Tokyo Ryuurui's Art Studio provides a wide range of photography services, but there is much more it it than just photography. Being a multi genre artist gives me a much more wide spectrum of tools and artistic vision to create intriguing and striking images. Because I am also a certified Japanese calligrapher, photographer and a photoshop artist, I combine all 3 areas of expertise to create my final photos. The combination of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy body art, photography, and professional photo editing, results in very interesting photos, that would normally require involvement of few people. Since I perform all three tasks, my clients are guaranteed a lot more intimacy and privacy than they would get in a regular studio, but what is more important I am able to maintain the continuous artistic vision throughout the whole process. I set up and take photos with a vision of how will I edit them. This impacts the lighting, toning, mood, the calligraphy text and posing. Hire a photographer in Tokyo What I love about low key photography is the drama that it introduces to a photo. It is my favourite style of photography whenever I shoot nude art. Deep shadows,countle3ss possibilities of sculpting the body, and the mysterious moody atmosphere are just too good to pass on. Here is a second photo from this week's photo shoot with a Japanese model Asuka, with whom I love to work. She has a fantastic body for light sculpting, with well define lines and curves. The text that I wrote is one of my most favourite fragments from the Tang dynasty classing by a great calligrapher Sun Guitong. On the top of the photo you can see faded Chinese characters, which is actually the original text from his Treatise on calligraphy, and it is a very poetic fragment, talking about beauty and power of Chinese calligraphy. Enjoy the photo! (girls in Tokyo area interested in a body art photoshoot, please contact me directly. )

Hire a photographer in Tokyo Chinese calligraphy is a true magic spilled by ink. It is pure, powerful, spiritual and profound. It is an ancient art thousands of years old, entangled in traditions, secrets, politics, poetry, and even occult beliefs of the ancient Chinese. There is so much to it that it would be difficult to even scratch the surface with a book thousand pages long. My Chinese and Japanese calligraphy body art concept is to merge the beauty and sex appeal of female body with the dynamism and force of the brush strokes. It all is then accentuated by light set up, low key photography and lots of though given to post production, especially contrasting and toning. Yesterday I had a smashing photo shoot with Asuka, a Japanese model whom I have been working with for past 3 years. I absolutely love the way I can sculpt her body with shadows and compose all that visual drama together. Enjoy the photo, more is coming! Hire a photographer in Tokyo I love flash photography and all those amazing possibilities that it offers, such as overpowering all the ambient light via setting flashes to high speed sync, or the tack sharp photos and freezing nearly any type of movement, then we have TTL which helps a lot during rushed photo shoots or outdoors shooting with multiple lights where manual flash photography would take way more time to set up. But the quality of natural light is really difficult to reproduce, even more so when it comes to the evening light, which is soft, warm and perfect for portraits. Yesterday we had a typhoon passing by so today a great sunset was guaranteed. So we went out to the beach with my wife and we waited for the right light. I took this shot just before sunset, with no fill light and no reflectors, and i I love it. My Youtube channel with free photoshop tutorials Buy fine art photo prints at my store on SmugMug. Hire a photographer in Tokyo I am sure that there were many times when you stood in front of a scene and really liked it, but there was an object or a building or something else that you did not like and wished it was not there. In this video I will show you how you can easily remove or alter unwanted objects from a photo, and I do it on an example of a building. By doing so the whole composition of the photograph changes to a much better and more pleasing to the eye. Also, I am making some color adjustments via curves adjustment layer, and I change the tonality of the middle part of the photo to a much warmer one, creating a differentiation and a contrast between layers in the photo. In this video I am using a photo of Tokyo panorama with the Rainbow Bridge in a foreground at night, which is one of my favorite spots to visit and shoot. Hire a photographer in Tokyo Camera + off camera flash + photoshop = a whole lot of fun! Today I was testing various functions on my new camera and so we went out to a nearby park with my wife to shoot a few pictures.
